  3. Woodfire Preview - Chester Nealie

Contemporary Porcelain

Four artists explore the intricate relationship between landscape, experience and memory.

Avi combines slab, slip casting and stamping techniques while Maiju casts thin sheets of

textured porcelain to produce a series of gradually evolving mono prints.  Anita’s wall

pieces and boat series use reverse inlays, coloured slips, screen printing and transfer

prints to present a narrative of journey, place and time. Kirsty alters her surfaces

with carving, stitching and piercing combined with the element of light to create table

lamps and light boxes. All four are working with porcelain in different and innovative ways.

Traces of Water

Jane Robertson combines porcelain with an iron-saturated clay dug
from her property in the Adelaide Hills. Speckles emerge in the gas
firing to stain and texture the surface and a Shino type glaze
completes the work.

Woodfire Preview

Chester Nealie celebrates a new workspace with spirited new
vessels, platters and teapots woodfired over several days. The
Triennale previews work resulting from his skill, curiosity and
willingness to experiment.
