Earth to Form

Curated by Gudrun Klix

This exhibition brings together a group of artists, who wholly or partially use clay for sculptural work. What differentiates them from the potter is that while clay is a medium of choice, it is no longer defines them. Rather it is the exploration and expression of idea that matters most.

With these the artist strives to produce works that engage the audience in an intimate conversation that can instill in the fingers a memory of the texture of the earth and its will to form. Or they may trigger thoughts about our headlong journey into environmental oblivion, or engage us with our own personal or cultural history. Above all the aim is to bring about engagement.

Artists:

Walter Auer, Anna Choi, Kim Dickey, Helen Earl, Gudrun Klix , Jia Haur Liang, Bill Lungas, Pip McManus , Bruce McWhinney, Angela Valamanesh, Ken Yonetani and Virginia Scotchie.
