SYDNEY 16-20 July 2009

About
About us:
Sydney will host the 12th National Ceramics Conference in 2009, following on from the highly successful VERGE Ceramics Conference in Brisbane in 2006.
July 2009 will be a focus month for a NSW CERAMICS FESTIVAL in regional NSW and Sydney. The Australian Ceramics Triennale organising committee has invited art galleries and institutions to participate in this event by presenting exhibitions and collections during the month of July 2009. This will offer the public an opportunity to view the richness and diversity of contemporary ceramics. A four day conference, operating under the umbrella of AUSTRALIAN CERAMICS TRIENNALE 09, will represent the academic and social aspects of the festival with keynote addresses, panel discussions, trade fair and exhibition opportunities. Workshops and demonstrations to explore the ceramic medium will be held during the event.
This event is expected to benefit Australian artists, craftspeople and designers and promote ceramics in the wider community. It is intended to raise awareness through exhibitions, publications and conference discussions, of the scope and excellence of practice in Australia, and to contextualise the work in the broader field of contemporary art/craft and design.
It is expected that this event will promote Australian ceramics practice to the national and international community and encourage a representative cross-section of artists, students, educators, writers, gallery personnel, collectors and suppliers to gather in Sydney in July 2009.
